Fastest Tandoor in the West |

The first ever restaurant Tandoor was built in Moti Mahal restaurant in Delhi in 1947/8. 60 years later it is used all over the world and is the backbone of the Indian restaurant industry in UK. To celebrate this event we are holding a "Fastest Tandoor in the West" competition with the London event taking place at the Moti Mahal in London on 25th October. RULES & MARKING The competition is split into three phases, all of which must be judged independently with named judges: Pre tandoor (20 points) Cleanliness, hygiene, health & safety and marinating process. Tandoor (40 points) Technique and speed with timing starting when the item is placed in the tandoor and finishing when it is placed before the judges for tasting. Fastest will receive greatest number of points and graded downwards for others. Post tandoor (40 points) Flavour, taste, colouring and appearance. Each entrant should produce one bread and one meat or fish. If you want to be a centre for a competition in your area please let us know on 020 8399 4831. At present Moti Mahal in London is the centre for London and Indian Ocean in Ashton Under Lyne the centra for Tameside and Great Manchester. Depending on the number of areas, there may be a final of all area winners after National Curry Week. |
